Recent Stock purchase - VIPS (40 shares, aggressive growth)

Vipshop Holdings (NYSE:VIPS) is an online discount retailer (vip.com) in China selling high-quality branded products. Over the past 2 years I have watched Vipshop rallied more than 3000%. I did not add it to my portfolio bcos I was skeptical about their growth prospect. However after looking at their revenue results this past 2 quarters, I've come to the conclusion they have plenty of growth ahead.

With recent revenue growth of 108+% YOY ($1.36 billion) and gross profit growing more than 100%, I am confident they will continue to do well even in a slowing chinese economy and is willing to bet$ on it. So to all those users online in China, I say 加油 ("add oil") :-) !

Dividend Growth Stock Purchase - GILD (10 shares, $17 dividend income)

Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ: GILD) is a biotechnology company that specializes in antiviral drugs for HIV, hepatitis B, influenza and pulmonary diseases.

This company has had impressive revenues growth recently (more than 100% year over year) and for the first time in company history will be paying out dividends this year. This is a good sign and shows confidence by the company management team going forward and I want to invest in them.

To paraphrase hockey great Wayne Gretzky"I skate to where the puck is going to be" .
I want to own this company before the dividend train arrives :))

Market CAP: 149B Dividend %: 1.7% (based on $0.43 dividend starting 2nd qtr 2015)

Recent Stock Purchase - Costco (10 shares, $14 dividend income)

Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ:COST) operates membership warehouses throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries worldwide through its subsidaries. They sell everything from freshly cooked rotisserie chicken to diamond rings and business services.

This company has been steadily growing for more than 25 years with a consistent modest dividend.
I am a frequent customer like many of my friends and colleagues so I think the future for their business is bright. Though I prefer companies with dividend yields of 2% or more, Costco is an exception and is more of a growth stock than dividend stock for now. I hope to grow holdings with them as well as collecting a modest dividend at the same time.

Stock Purchase - KO (24 shares, $31 dividend income)

Who among us have NOT tried a can or bottle of Coca-Cola in their lives ?
Probably no too many people in this world unless you have been living under a rock !

The Coca-Cola company (NYSE:KO) has been in business for more than a century and is a dividend champion (list maintained by David Fish) with 25+ consecutive years of higher dividends. If there is one company that empitomize a global brand, coke is it. I hope to gradually build up a decent size holding of  KO shares to collect their dividends indefinitely, kinda like the Oracle of Omaha :)

Singapore may be the top spot but I find cost of eating out there especially at hawker centers is not too expensive. What do you guys think ?

Stock Purchase - STWD (50 shares, $90 dividend income)

Starwood Property Trust, Inc.(NYSE:STWD) is a commercial mortgage REIT investing in and originating commercial real estate debt.

This company has been growing and distributing consistent dividends since 2009. The high dividend might become a cause of concern  especially if there is a rate hike and it becomes unsustainable. However until then, I am willing to take this risk and get paid in the meantime.

Market CAP: 5B Dividend %: 8

Stock Purchase - RDS.B (15 shares, $61 dividend income)

The Dow lost more than 300 points today on rate hike fears while the US dollar rose considerably against other currencies worldwide. International energy companies were hit hard today so I bought 15 shares of Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE:RDS.B). This will add $61 per year to my dividend income.

Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell) is an independent oil and gas company, based in the United Kingdom with operations and energy interests worldwide. I am sure many of us have filled up at one of their gas stations. The energy sector is still under selling pressure so I'll be on the lookout for more lower prices on names like (NYSE: OKE), (NYSE: ESV), (NYSE: CVX).

Stock Purchase - OHI (25 shares, $53 dividend income)

I bought 25 shares (NYSE:OHI) amid the market REIT selloff due to fears of interest rate hikes by US federal reserve. Everyone is afraid higher interest rates will make REITs less profitable. I think this fear is overblown.

Omega Healthcare Investors, Inc. owns and operates hundreds of nursing facilities and hospitals in more than 30 states in the US. With US demographics of retiring people increasing, this company is a necessary and thriving business.

Basic info:
Market CAP: 5B  Dividend %: 5.5

This will add $53 to my dividend income which is quite a good return and sustainable I hope :)

The 15 Most Miserable Economies in the World

Inflation is a disease that can wreck a society, Milton Friedman, the late Nobel laureate economist, once said. Add rising unemployment to the diagnosis, and his profession ascribes a rather non-technical term to the debilitating effect on people: misery. Read more... (Bloomberg.com)
